A series of summer events will take place in communities across Salisbury.A series of summer events will take place in communities across Salisbury.
The Salisbury City Council Communities team is looking for people to help with their “We Love Where We Live” events.
These fundays, which include music, dancing, sports, games, arts, crafts and more, take place within four of the city’s hyper-local communities: Bemerton, Bishopdown, Harnham and The Friary.

The events will take place on the following dates:
– We Love Harnham (Funday and Parish Fete): 2pm to 5pm, Saturday, July 26
– We Love Bemerton: 11am to 3pm, Thursday, July 31
– We Love Bishopdown: 11am to 3pm, Monday, August 4
– We Love The Friary: 11am to 3pm, Saturday, August 9
The council is looking for people who live, work or run an activity in Bemerton, Bishopdown or The Friary to help make the funday even more fun.
This could include having a stand promoting a group, activity or charity, running or demonstrating an activity at the event, or even volunteering to help out on the day.
The We Love Harnham event is run in partnership with Harnham Parish.

The communities team says these events are made better by local people participating and showcasing the activities and groups they run in the area that make it a great place to live.

Last year’s We Love Bemerton event featured activities from Rise:61, a local youth charity, seed planting from Friends of the Folly volunteers, face painting provided by Wiltshire Council, and sports games run by Sarum Academy coaches.
A mum who attended last year’s We Love Bemerton funday said: “It’s great to see everyone you know and to be reminded of all the great stuff that goes on here all the time. It makes you feel positive.”
Jane Wise, community development officer for Salisbury City Council, said: “We always have a great day at these fundays.
“We are looking for dance groups, sports clubs, uniformed groups, knitting circles, musicians who are really connected to the area to join in the fun.
“It’s a great chance to promote what you do and share the joy with your neighbours.
“If people just want to help with refreshments, setting up and packing down – the more the merrier.”
The communities team will be in touch in May, in time to organise the events in late July and early August 2025.
Torquay United 2 Salisbury 2 – Gulls lose ground in promotion race
Torquay United had to come back from going 2-1 down to earn a point
Torquay United had to come back from going 2-1 down at Plainmoor this evening – but will be frustrated they couldn’t take all three points from a Salisbury side that battled hard to hold out for 2-2.
Torquay took an early lead through Ozzy Zanzala but at half time it was 1-1 following an injury-time goal by Callum Watts. And then Salisbury went 2-1 up through the excellent Ronan Silva in the 55th minute.
Torquay worked hard to get the equaliser, which came through Will Jenkins Davies in the 73rd minute – and after that they put a lot of pressure on the visitors’ goal, but couldn’t find a third, despite some late chances.

For the fourth game in a row, manager Paul Wotton kept the same starting line-up. Striker Cody Cooke’s injury meant he wasn’t in the 16 again. In the Salisbury side was former Torquay loanee Finn Tonks, who joined Salisbury after returning to AFC Bournemouth earlier this season
