Vikings Agree to Sign Ex-Cardinals WR Rondale Moore

Vikings To Sign WR Rondale Moore

After drawing interest from a number of suitors, Rondale Moore has chosen his next team. The Vikings announced that they’ve agreed to terms with the free agent wide receiver.

Moore’s free agency tour kicked off in Minnesota last week. The wideout later took meetings with the Bears, Jets, and the Titans, with that latter visit taking place today. Ultimately, Moore decided to head to the Vikings to resume his NFL career.

The former second-round pick suffered a season-ending injury during Falcons training camp last year. Despite the extended absence, Moore clearly didn’t lack for suitors, and he’ll ultimately beat higher-profile names like Stefon DiggsAmari CooperKeenan Allen and Tyler Lockett to the transaction log.

BREAKING! Vikings Sign Wide Receiver Rondale Moore in Free Agency

Moore established himself as a versatile offensive option during his time in Arizona. He averaged 45 receptions per season between 2021 and 2023, and he also garnered 52 total carries (for 249 yards) over that span. He even got an extended look as a returner during his rookie campaign, so the veteran could fill a number of holes for his new squad.

The Vikings are set to return their top three wide receivers in 2025, with Justin JeffersonJordan Addison, and Jalen Nailor leading the depth chart. There’s room for reps behind that trio, and considering Moore had the entire 2024 campaign to recover, he should be ready to compete for a WR spot.

The Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback situation may be uncertain—but whoever takes the reins in the Land of 10,000 Lakes will have a new weapon at wide receiver.

Wide receiver Rondale Moore has agreed to contract terms with the Vikings, the team announced Wednesday evening. Moore, 24, has not played since 2023.

In March of 2024, the Arizona Cardinals—with whom Moore played the first three years of his career—traded Moore to the Atlanta Falcons for quarterback Desmond Ridder. Moore then injured his knee in training camp, costing him the ’24 season.

Over the course of his short career, Moore has caught 182 passes for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns; he also has returned 22 punts and 13 kicks.

Moore—a second-round draft pick in 2021—remains best known for his tenure with Purdue. The New Albany, Ind. native was a consensus All-American after an astounding freshman season in 2018, helping the Boilermakers demolish a highly touted Ohio State team that October.

EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings have added a dynamic athlete to their roster.

Minnesota signed free agent receiver Rondale Moore, the team announced Wednesday.

A second-round draft pick by Arizona in 2021, Moore spent his first four seasons with the Cardinals. He missed the entire 2024 campaign after suffering a knee injury during training camp.

Moore played 39 games (23 starts) for the Cardinals from 2021-23, during which he totaled 135 catches for 1,201 yards and three receiving touchdowns. He also added 52 carries for 249 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Moore has been a consistent contributor on special teams, as well. As a rookie, he returned 21 punts for 171 yards (8.1 average) and 13 kickoffs for 291 yards (22.4 average).

Here are five things to know about the Vikings new addition:

1. ‘How big is fast?’

At 5-foot-7, Moore grew used to hearing critiques of his size during his journey to the NFL.

But he’s never listened to the doubters, first defying the odds as an infant born five weeks premature.

“They say premature babies are the strongest,” his cousin said, “because they come out having to fight.”

Moore overcame expectations then and has never looked back.

NFL.com’s Chase Goodbread wrote a feature on Moore in 2021 ahead of the NFL Draft and shared an anecdote of Moore’s. The playmaker had met with Purdue receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard during the college recruiting process and was asked by Shephard, “How big are you, really?” Goodbread wrote:

The question had dogged Rondale Moore many times before, but with Shephard, the 5-foot-7 dynamo juked it as easily as so many would-be tacklers. Planting his foot and changing direction with just four words, he retorted: “How big is fast?”

Shephard doesn’t recall what he offered for a comeback, but he fumbled for the right one, then smiled before his next words. The confidence Moore exuded with the turnabout left Shephard wanting the four-star recruit even more. And as he would later learn, Moore’s brand of fast couldn’t be any bigger.
