Raiders NFL draft 2025: 3 second round options at running back
Raiders have a need at the running back position and could find a gem in a loaded draft class.
The Las Vegas Raiders have a big need at the running back position. What was expected to lead the offense last season flopped and didn’t have a player rush for 500 yards. With Chip Kelly in the building and his extensive run game, a young back can help the Raiders have a bounce-back running the football.
It’s good that the Raiders’ 2025 draft class is stacked at the position. The depth could allow the Raiders to take two running backs to add to the backfield. John Spytek was at the Boise State pro day to watch Ashton Jeanty, receiving buzz as their pick at six.
If the Raiders don’t go that route, who are the other running backs that could have an impact in 2025? Here are the top running backs they could land in the second round:
Devin Neal RB, Kansas State
Draft comp: Josh Jacobs
Devin Neal made a name for himself with a monster game vs Colorado, where he might keep Shilo Sanders from being drafted. He ran for 1281 yards in 2025 and helped carry the Kansas Jayhawks’ offense, dealing with injuries at quarterback.
Neal is elusive and can create in the backfield when the line doesn’t hold up. He can cut on a dime and has the vision to match, leading to explosive plays on offense. In the passing game, he displays soft hands and has demonstrated that he can run routes at the Senior Bowl, dominating linebackers and safeties during one-on-ones.
While he doesn’t have true breakaway speed, his talent in the phone booth will make him back like Josh Jacobs. With similar height and weight to a former All-Pro running back, he could become a replacement after watching Jacobs play well for the Green Bay Packers.
Cam Skattebo RB, Arizona State.
Comp: David Montgomery
Cam Skattebo burst onto the scene in 2024, leading Arizona State to the college football playoffs. He finished second in the nation in rushing yards with 1712 yards and 21 touchdowns. Skattebo also helped out as a receiver with 44 receptions and 543 yards.
Skattebo is a wrecking ball who forced 102 missed tackles last season. His contact balance stands out, breaking tackles and dragging defenders for extra yards. Skattebo can fit into any scheme and displayed his long speed at his pro day, running a 4.5. Skattebo could be a second-round option for the Silver and Black.
Treveyon Henderson RB, Ohio State
Treveyon Henderson might be the most versatile running back in this draft. While sharing with Quinton Judkins, Henderson could still amass 1010 rushing yards, averaging 7.0 yards per carry during the season. He shone during the college football playoffs, having 5 total touchdowns during Ohio State’s run to a national championship.
Henderson can help in all three downs and stands out as a blocker. His ability to shake defenders led him to be 11th in PFF’s elusive rating, and he has the long speed to create home runs for any offense. His familiarity with Chip Kelly could make him a target for the Raiders.
