Wrexham lured Arthur Okonkwo away from Arsenal on a free transfer and could now do the same with a striker.

After their promotion out of the National League, Wrexham opted to strengthen their goalkeeper department.

To do this, they turned to Premier League outfit Arsenal, signing young goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo on a season-long loan.

He had an excellent debut season at the Racecourse Ground, keeping 14 clean sheets in 36 league matches as Wrexham finished second.

This past summer, meanwhile, Okonkwo’s contract with the Gunners ran out, seeing the Red Dragons swoop in and snap him up for completely free.

Now, heading into the 2025 summer transfer window, Wrexham have the chance to do the same with another player.

The Red Dragons have had issues in the centre-forward department for much of the 2024/25 season.

Sam Smith has now scored four goals in 12 outings since his arrival in late January, but more reinforcements will likely be needed.

Steven Fletcher is expected to leave when his deal runs out, and upgrades on the likes of Jack Marriott and Ollie Palmer could certainly be made.

On this front, Wrexham could look to make a move for Arsenal sensation Nathan Butler-Oyedeji.

The striker is currently set to leave the Emirates at the end of June for free when his deal runs out, and he could be a great long-term option for Phil Parkinson.

What Wrexham fans should know about Nathan Butler-Oyedeji

Wrexham have made a habit of signing older players in recent years, and while experience is good, planning for the future is also crucial.

On this front, Butler-Oyedeji seems like he would be the perfect fit for the Hollywood outfit.

Born in London, the 22-year-old began his career in Arsenal’s youth ranks but has enjoyed loan spells with the likes of Accrington Stanley.

Granted, it’s not at senior level, but it’s still more goals than every Wrexham striker in 2024/25 barring Smith (including his Reading goals).
