How West Ham Have Lined Up Recently

Potter, who was once quite experimental with his team selections, has resided to a 5-3-2 in recent matches, which has led to mixed fortunes.

Alphonse Areola retains his place as the Hammers’ first-choice goalkeeper. Despite keeping consecutive clean sheets away from Arsenal and at home to Leicester, he has conceded a goal in each of his last three matches, where the Hammers have only picked up one point out of a possible nine. Łukasz Fabiański has also stepped in this season until he sustained a back injury in a 1-0 away win against Southampton in Ivan Juric’s first game managing the Saints, helping Areola reclaim his spot.

Potter has consistently played a back five with two wing-backs, with Oliver Scarles who has replaced Emerson in recent matches at left-wing back and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-wing back. The centre-back trio is made up of Max Kilman, who Julen Lopetegui signed from Wolves in the summer, Aaron Cresswell and Jean-Clair Todibo.

In the loss to Wolves, Potter played a 3-4-2-1 with the midfield consisting of Wan-Bissaka, Lucas Paqueta, James Ward-Prowse and Scarles, with Wan-Bissaka and Scarles acting as wing-backs.

Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have played on the wings but more recently as an upfront partnership with Crysencio Summerville slotting in when his side has suspensions or injuries. Luis Guilherme occupied the left-wing role with Brighton loanee Evan Ferguson starting up front. Niklas Fullkrug last started in the FA Cup against Villa but is now back from his injury.

West Ham Recent Form

Since taking charge of the Hammers’, Potter’s form has been inconsistent, to say the least. In their last five games, his side have won twice, with the back-to-back wins coming against a title-challenging Arsenal side and a Leicester City side almost certainly getting relegated at the end of the season.

The two games since then were a 1-0 defeat at home to Newcastle United, which was followed by a 1-1 draw against Everton who are now managed by former Hammer’s boss David Moyes.

In their most recent match, the Hammers fell to a 1-0 defeat against Vitor Pereira’s Wolves at Molineux, a win that helped push Wolves further away from the relegation battle. The goal came from Jørgen Strand Larsen in the 21st minute.

West Ham Injuries To Consider

Potter will have only two injuries to take into account when choosing his team selection for this evening against Pereira’s side. Fullkrug, who was signed from Borussia Dortmund after the Euros is fit enough to make appearances for the Hammers after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Summerville is not expected to return until early May from a hamstring injury with Michail Antonio not expected to return until the end of the season after breaking his leg.
