Leeds United head of football operations Adam Underwood will take charge of the club’s transfers this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 43-year-old is poised to widen his role at Elland Road as a defacto sporting director with Nick Hammond expected to leave the club to join Everton.

The 43-year-old is poised to widen his role at Elland Road as a defacto sporting director with Nick Hammond expected to leave the club to join Everton.

Underwood, who was previously Leeds‘ head of academy, will be in charge of the club’s recruitment in this summer’s transfer window as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.

The Whites secured promotion after beating Stoke City 6-0 on Monday (21 April) and Sheffield United dropped points away at Burnley.

Underwood was promoted to the head of football operations role in 2023.

Meanwhile, Hammond is set to follow Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear to Everton following The Friedkin Group’s takeover on Merseyside.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (21 April) that Leeds are targeting Premier League experience as they begin planning for their return to the top flight.

It is believed the Yorkshire giants only plan on strengthening “a few key positions” – with six players already seen as Premier League-ready.

New signings at goalkeeper and centre-forward are seen as a priority in the early stages of planning at Elland Road.

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (23 April) Leeds are well placed to agree multiple commercial deals after sealing promotion back to the Premier League.

49ers Enterprises has been putting plans in place for promotion since completing its £170million takeover in July 2023.

Sports business expert Lukasz Baczek reported on 22 April the Whites are likely to earn £10million again from their sponsorship deal with Adidas after it was significantly reduced following relegation.
