Phil Parkinson hails Wrexham desire after securing first away win of season

Wrexham boss provides injury latest regarding centre-back pair ahead of Crewe Alexandra clash

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has said Jordan Tunnicliffe and Eogan O’Connell are making good progress on their injury recoveries.

Wrexham are currently without the centre-back duo. The Red Dragons are back in League Two action this weekend with a home clash against Crewe Alexandra.

They were beaten 5-0 away at Stockport County last time out. Phil Parkinson’s side will be eager to bounce back from that heavy loss with a win over the Railwaymen.

Parkinson has provided this injury update, as per the Evening Leader: “Hopefully Eoghan will be back in full training by the end of the week while Jordan is building his way back up. He is getting there but he’s had a long period out with that back problem and we’ve got to make sure he’s right.”

Wrexham have conceded too many goals so far this term so getting Tunnicliffe and O’Connell back into the fold will be a big boost. They have leaked 20 goals in nine games already.

Tunnicliffe hasn’t featured at all since his side won the National League title earlier this year. He moved to the Racecourse Ground in July 2022 to add more competition and depth to the defensive department.

The former England C international has since made 30 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with two goals. He has played for the likes of Barnsley, AFC Fylde and Crawley Town in the past.

As for O’Connell, he has played eight games so far this term, six of which have come in the league, and is expected to be back in training by the end of the week which is a good news.
