Matt Law issues fresh injury update on Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jacob Ramsey

Telegraph journalist Matt Law has issued a fresh timeline on the absence of Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jacob Ramsey.

Law believes that he will not be out for multiple months and the early suggestions are that it could be a six-week absence.

The 22-year-old will be out due to the recurrence of his metatarsal injury although that’s not understood to be as significant as the initial setback.

Law wrote on Twitter, “Hope around Jacob Ramsey that he won’t be out for another 2/3 months. Recurrence of metatarsal injury not thought to be as significant as initial injury. Some suggestion it could be more like six weeks.”

While the 22-year-old may be a slightly more advanced midfielder, he’s also played at number eight on numerous occasions.

His stats when compared to other midfielders in Europe, make for impressive reading and Emery will certainly miss his game-changing abilities.

In terms of his goal contributions, he ranks in the top seven per cent (per 90 minutes) of all midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues for non-penalty goals, non-penalty xG, assists and non-penalty xG with xA

He also averages 3.71 progressive carries per 90 minutes which puts him in the top two per cent and his touches in the attacking penalty box are in the top five per cent.

Even when compared to number 10s and wingers, his work off the ball is commendable and why Emery will find a way to get him minutes once he’s back in action.

With 2.3 tackles per 90 minutes, he’s in the top five per cent while his clearances of little over 1 every game puts him in the top two per cent.

Ramsey is clearly a player who appears to have it all and if he stays fit and keeps improving, he could become one of the most complete midfielders in Europe.

In other Aston Villa news, a senior first-team player recently risked being out for 3 months with a leg break and artery damage.
