Alabama Running Back Jase McClellan Officially Out Against Georgia
The closer the SEC Championship game draws in, the more insight we gain into Georgia and Alabama’s injury situations. Jase McClellan, the starting running back for Alabama, was said to be likely to miss the game yesterday. As of right now, McClellan has been officially declared out for the Tide, as first reported by Austin Hammon.
McClellan has gained 803 yards through rushing this season, along with six touchdowns, and an average of 4.8 yards per carry. Roydell Williams, who has 497 yards, four touchdowns, and an average of 5.3 yards per run, is statistically Alabama’s next-best rusher. A difficult defeat for the Crimson Tide against a well-rounded Georgia defense as they got closer to their biggest game of the year.
Perhaps the Bulldogs’ defense’s biggest challenge going into this game will be stopping quarterback Jalen Milroe’s ability to scramble and his ability to enhance the run game. But in the event that McClellan is sidelined for the title game, one would have to assume that his injury lessens the defensive load on Georgia.
