The Crewe Alexandra academy graduate joined Man United as part of a high-profile transfer back in June 2012. Having caught the eye while playing for the Cheshire-based side, the Red Devils splashed a reported £6 million on the teenager’s signature.
Described as an “exceptional talent” by then-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, big things were expected of Powell, who ultimately failed to live up to the hype. A series of loan moves followed for Powell, who left United for good in 2016 having made just nine senior appearances.
Reflecting on his spell with the three-time European champions, Powell revealed to SPORTbible that one of the problems he faced as a pro footballer was keeping his diet in check.

“I didn’t care about my diet until I was 25,” Powell claimed. “I remember at Crewe, I used to eat McDonald’s after every game because McDonald’s was around the corner.
