Smith stands out to transfer running back Ismail Mahdi during visit
Arkansas running backs coach Kolby Smith impressed Texas State transfer running back Ismail Mahdi during his official visit to Fayetteville.
“Man I like it, it’s going good,” said Mahdi, who arrived in Fayetteville on Monday and left Tuesday afternoon. “The coaching staff is great. The running backs coach, Kolby Smith, is a good coach. Very intelligent and I can tell that he’s going to coach me hard. He’s a great coach.”
Mahdi, 5-9 and 187 pounds, rushed for 991 yards and had 195 receiving yards with 6 total touchdowns this season.
A two-time All-Sun Belt First Team selection, he led the nation in all-purpose yards with 2,169 in 2023. Smith spent four seasons on the staff of the Miami Dolphins prior to coming to Arkansas in March.

Alabama transfer receiver has ‘eye-opening’ Arkansas football visit
Alabama transfer receiver Kendrick Law had an official visit to Arkansas that he described as “eye-opening.”
He and his parents arrived in Fayetteville on Monday and left Tuesday afternoon.
“Coming out here and visiting, it’s been eye-opening,” said Law, who’s being recruited by receivers coach Ronnie Fouch. “I’m ready for what the future holds. They’ve got a great plan for me. I like the staff and what the staff has done with me, and then [for] previous guys…we’re going to keep weighing options.”
Law, 5-11 and 201 pounds, recorded 33 catches for 343 yards and 1 touchdown in three seasons at Alabama. He also returned 22 kickoffs for 536 yards with a long of 52 yards.
He was a consensus 4-star prospect in the 2022 class as a senior at Shreveport (La.)

“Coach Adams, he recruited me hard in high school and I was like ‘Well, now I’m in the portal, I might as well test my options.’” Jarrett said. “Seeing Coach Adams, I was like, ‘I’ve got to go visit.’”
Jarrett, 6-5 and 350 pounds, was recruited by Adams while attending Grimsley High School in Greensboro, N.C. He eventually signed with Georgia over offers from Alabama, Auburn, North Carolina, Clemson, LSU, Michigan, Tennessee, Penn State and others.
He was rated a 4-star prospect by Rivals and 247Sports as a senior and was selected to play in the All-American Bowl.
