Jacoby Brissett Gives His Honest Thoughts About Drake Maye

The New England Patriots made news during the NFL Draft by selecting North Carolina’s Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick.

He is the future of the franchise.

However, he might not be the present.

The team did sign veteran Jacoby Brissett back to be a mentor and a possible bridge quarterback.

Brissett was drafted by the Pats in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He would go on to bounce around between the Colts, Dolphins, Browns, and Commanders before coming back to New England this year.

The 31-year-old was recently asked by the New England media about Maye’s development so far and how he has fared.

“Got a lot of talent…He can make all the throws. He wants to learn football, he wants to get better and that’s what you want,” the former Super Bowl champion said, via NBC Sports Boston.

The Pats made the right call to bring in Brissett, who has plenty of experience being both a starter and a backup in this league.

The former North Carolina State Wolfpack star has started in 48 games and played in 79 over his career.

He has the brain and experience to help out Maye.

While at North Carolina, Maye was a two-time All-ACC quarterback and ACC Player of the Year.

Over his final two seasons as a Tar Heel, he recorded 78 total touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

The ability is all there.

He just needs to get more acclimated to the NFL game, which is where Brissett will be able to step in and help.
