Clemson lands former 5-star LB Jeremiah Alexander in transfer portal

Clemson lands the No. 1 Edge in the 2022 class from Alabama

Things are heating up in the transfer portal for Clemson. You can add that to the list of things you didn’t think you’d hear in 2025.

The Tigers are adding another player out of the portal today. This time, it’s Linebacker/edge Jeremiah Alexander from Alabama. Anytime people hear Bama, their ears perk up a little, but in this case, it’s warranted.

Alexander is a former five-star, per 247Sports, with a .99 composite rating. He was the No. 1 edge in the 2022 class and the No. 18 player overall in the nation. In his three seasons with the Tide, the sophomore saw action in 25 games as a special teams player, recording eight tackles and two solos.

While the stats aren’t incredibly impressive, Alabama has a roster loaded with talent. It’s easy to be buried. However, the depth at LB is concerning at Clemson. And if Alexander can transition to a more traditional LB role, it’ll help the Tigers immensely.

Alexander is the third portal addition this season after Dabo Swinney’s public stance against it. He heads to Clemson with two years of eligibility left.

Carson Beck leaving Georgia could be a disaster for Clemson and Dabo Swinney

It is being rumored that Georgia transfer QB Carson Beck is likely to land at one of Clemson’s ACC rivals.

Thursday, it was reported that former Georgia starting quarterback Carson Beck intends to put his name in the transfer portal despite previously declaring for the NFL Draft. This news sent waves throughout the college football world and, if reports are correct, it could have an impact on Dabo Swinney and his Clemson Tigers in 2025.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who spoke on this issue on Thursday’s edition of the Pat McAfee Show, Beck is potentially eyeing Miami as a landing spot.

“My quick brush on making some calls on this today,” he said, “is that Miami would loom as the favorite for Carson Beck. They right now don’t have an incumbent starter at quarterback. Mario Cristobal has shown an affinity from the success that Cam Ward has had to have an established guy come in.”

Last offseason, Miami pulled a similar move by landing former Washington State QB Cam Ward who, like Beck this year, originally stated that he was going to go to the NFL only to reverse course and put his name into the transfer portal. This season, Ward was terrific throwing for 4,313 yards and 39 TDs with only seven interceptions. Those numbers were good enough for Ward to be named a Heisman Trophy finalist.
