Moore’s 20 Points Lead Tigers, Clemson Stumbles Against Virginia

CLEMSON, S.C. (Clemson Athletics) – The Clemson Tigers (10-6, 3-1) fell 67-60 to the Virginia Cavaliers (10-6, 2-2), despite a 20-point effort from junior Mia Moore. The all-around combo guard made a career high in threes made in a game with four, shooting 4-10 from 3FG and 8-15 from the field.

The Tigers shot well in the first half, knocking down five threes in the first quarter alone, two of which coming from Moore, two more from Kohn, and one from Raven Thompson.Kohn scored 17 points on five made threes, which is the second-most points she has ever scored in a game. The Tigers had a two-point advantage going into the second quarter, however, the Cavaliers scored 20 points in the second quarter, getting an eight-point edge over the Tigers going into the half.

Clemson outscored Virginia 16-13 in the third quarter, but Virginia went on a 12-0 scoring run in the quarter, which the Tigers struggled to come back from. Clemson’s bench scored 30 points to Virginia’s zero, and the Tigers knocked down 11 threes to Virginia’s seven. The Tigers went on a 8-0 run in the fourth quarter spanning a 9:35 period, but it wasn’t quite enough to overcome the Cavaliers.
