‘Signed all docs’ – Brighton set to beat Man United and Liverpool in race for ‘€10m’ wonderkid
The 18-year-old from Mali joined Swedish outfit IFK Göteborg from Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas – who have produced a number of famous players, including Kolo Touré, Yaya Touré, Gervinho, Salomon Kalou and Emmanuel Eboué – in the 2023-24 winter transfer window.
He made his competitive debut for Blåvitt in February, and scored his first league goal for the club in April. Yalcouyé has since made 11 appearances for the Gothenburg-based side.
In May, Swedish outlet Expressen revealed that a host of top European clubs – including Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich – had sent scouts to watch the dynamic midfielder.
But now the teenager is reportedly set to join Albion for a fee of around ‘€10m, add-ons included’.
Romano tweeted: “Brighton have signed all docs for Malick Junior Yalcouye to join the club from IFK Goteborg.
“2005 born midfielder joins for fee around €10m, add-ons included. Here we go”

Inter Miami now set asking price for Diego Gomez after opening bid from Brighton
Inter Miami have reportedly named their price to sell midfielder Diego Gomez this summer after rejecting an opening offer from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Paraguay international has been subject to major interest from the Premier League in recent weeks, with Brighton recently having a $8.5m bid shot down by Inter Miami, with West Ham also believed to be tracking Gomez.
Although the 21-year-old has only just returned from a lengthy injury, Gomez has been one of Inter Miami’s top performers this year, operating in central midfield as well as out on the left-wing, forming quite the partnership with Lionel Messi on the other side.
And Inter Miami have now named their demands for Gomez if he’s to leave this summer.
Inter Miami slap $25m asking price on Gomez after Brighton bid
According to journalist Tom Bogart, Inter Miami want as much as $25m for Gomez this summer, though the Herons could be willing to accept $15m if the situation were to come to that scenario.
Having been signed by Inter Miami for just $3m from Club Libertad, the Herons stand to make a massive profit from the sale of Gomez if Brighton are willing to meet the Florida franchise’s demands for the Paraguay star.
And with Inter Miami setting their stool out early, there’s a real chance that Tata Martino’s side could recoup a good fee for Gomez, who seems intent on moving to Europe.
