The South Carolina Gamecocks are undoubtedly coming off a successful season in 2024. They finished 9-4 overall and 5-3 in SEC games.

The Gamecocks also had some impressive wins over No. 10 Texas A&M, No. 23 Missouri and No. 21 Clemson, but ended the season on a sour note, losing to the Illinois Fighting Illini 21-17 in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. Despite that, much of the success can be attributed to freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who had a true breakout season.

His time on the field did not go unnoticed, as the Football Writers Association of America named him the National Offensive Freshman of the Year.

It’s a much-deserved award, as Sellers finished the season completing 196-of-299 passes for 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and a 151.9 passing efficiency rating. He was also impressive running the ball gaining 674 yards and seven touchd

Luckily for Sellers, the Gamecocks have also made it a priority to beef up the offensive line through the transfer portal.

That meant receiving commitments from four-star tackle Jaylen Browns and three-star interior offensive linemen Rodney Newsom Jr. and Boaz Stanley.

After finishing at just No. 15 in the final College Football Playoff rankings in 2024, another big year of improvement from Sellers could propel them into the 12-team bracket for 2025.
