£30m-rated striker turned his nose up at Nottingham Forest move after deadline day bid
Nottingham Forest tried desperately to sign a striker on transfer deadline day after weeks of being knocked back.
The Reds were keen to bolster the strike force and Santiago Gimenez was the number one target for Forest.
After reservations emerged over his desire to come Forest also tried to get Eddie Nketiah but Oliver Glasner persuaded him towards Crystal Palace.
A number of players were linked with the club as the deadline approached but Forest didn’t manage to get anything over the line in the way of a talisman.
In the aftermath, it’s been claimed that Nuno Espirito Santo advised Evangelos Marinakis that he was happy with his squad when it came to forward options.

How Omar Marmoush felt about Forest transfer
Once moves for Gimenez and Nketiah had collapsed, Forest focused their attention on Eintracht Frankfurt talisman, Omar Marmoush.
The 25-year-old is valued at around the £30 million mark and the Bundesliga outfit were keen to recoup a top amount for his services.
Marmoush has been lauded for his ‘blistering pace’ in the past and last season he scored 17 goals and claimed six assists in Germany.
According to Frankfurter Rundschau, the player turned his nose up at the possibility of Forest and is keen to wait for one of the heavyweights of the Premier League.
Essentially that’s why the club stood firm on their valuation as they knew Marmoush wasn’t entirely convinced by the Forest project.
It meant that the Reds went without in their quest to land a striker. Otherwise, it’d been a decent transfer window but that was perhaps the one blemish.
Forest were right not to pay over the odds for Marmoush
It’s all good and well the player informing Forest that he’s waiting for a Premier League giant to take him but there wasn’t exactly a long queue this summer.
Marmoush is valued extremely highly by his club and it’s positive that Forest weren’t held at ransom and simply paid over the odds for a player who was essentially the third choice.
Forest have Chris Wood in fine form and the challenge now is to get Taiwo Awoniyi back to his best in the coming months.
Marmoush might remain on the shortlist at Forest. However, the club clearly don’t think he’s worth £30 million and this might be one that the club quickly moves on from.
