Leroy Sané is the September 2023 FC Bayern Player of the MonthNewcastle ready to go on January transfer madness after unbeaten start to the Premier League season with biggest signing yet

Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, it has been claimed.

According to Football Insider, the 28-year-old has attracted interest from Eddie Howe’s men, while Arsenal and Liverpool are also closely monitoring the Germany international.

Sane’s current Bayern Munich contract has just 10 months left to run, though the Bundesliga side are said to have opened negotiations to renew it.

However, those talks could allegedly collapse given the winger will have to take a salary cut to remain with the Bavarian giants.

Uncertainty surrounding Sane’s future has resulted in a spate of clubs monitoring the situation.

Newcastle are in the market for a winger, having seen a bid rebuffed for Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga on transfer deadline day.

Sane boasts Premier League experience, having recorded 135 appearances in all competitions during his time at Manchester City, scoring 39 goals and claiming 43 assists.

The winger has made 175 appearances since joining Bayern Munich, netting 48 goals and providing 50 assists in all competitions.

Newcastle’s summer transfer window saw few first team arrivals and was marred by a failed attempt to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

However, after Sunday’s 2-1 win over Wolves has seen Newcastle continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign.

After the victory, Howe told Sky Sports: “It’s a massive win for us. Away from home we have questions to answer and that is a big step forward for us.

“I wasn’t totally satisfied [at half-time] and the lads know they have to perform. We have the ability to make those changes. I have to credit the players who came on. Everyone played their part and it is a massive win.

“I got the sense [of urgency] at the start of the half and then there was bit of a lull and Fabian’s goal injected confidence. It took a moment of real class from Harvey and then we had cramp and all of those battling qualities at the end to get over the line.

“I think we are stepping forward in terms of our performances. I think it was a step in the right direction. We can improve in lots of different aspects and that is what we are going to be working on this week. We are a really tight-knit group and we have to remain that way.

Bayern Munich bid to secure Leroy Sane's future amidst Premier League interest

Newcastle United have already told one of their summer signings that he is not part of their long-term plans.

The Magpies were busy during the summer transfer window as several players had to leave the club in order to bring in money so that they could comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

However, that didn’t stop Newcastle from signing a couple of players during the window, with former Chelsea defender Lewis Hall demanding the largest transfer fee over the summer.

But now, just weeks after the transfer deadline, one new incoming has been told that he is out of the first-team plans.
