Brentford boss Thomas Frank signs new contract until 2025 - EurosportJamie O’Hara explains why ‘proper’ Tottenham fans are ‘finished’ with Son Heung-min

Tottenham eased the pressure on themselves by beating Brentford 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou has come under fire, with Tottenham losing to Arsenal last week and then being fortunate to beat Coventry in the League Cup.But the best recipe for all of this is winning and they did just that by seeing off Thomas Frank’s all-confident side, with Dominic Solanke scoring his first goal for Tottenham.

A lot of spotlight was on the club’s record transfer, including Brennan Johnson after he deactivated social media after getting stick from fans – he has since scored in back-to-back matches.

But it seems as though there are more players under this hot Tottenham microscope as Jamie O’Hara alluded to during the win over Brentford.

ut it seems as though there are more players under this hot Tottenham microscope as Jamie O’Hara alluded to during the win over Brentford.

Added to Solanke and Johnson scoring, James Maddison also eased the pressure off himself, with captain Son Heung-min supplying two assists.

The South Korean international has been at the club for nearly a decade and would be regarded as a club legend by many.

O’Hara himself stated that Son has been an ‘unbelievable’ player for the club and a ‘great’ following his arrival under Mauricio Pochettino in 2015.

But O’Hara thinks the 32-year-old is ‘finished’ and needs replacing, as the only reason he is starting is because ‘no one else is better’.

Son scored 17 Premier League goals and supplied ten assists last term and has five goal involvements to his name after five league matches this season.

But O’Hara thinks, even the ‘proper’ Tottenham fans think the Korean star is done and needs to move on, as he told talkSPORT.

Son Heung-min’s performances for Tottenham

“How do you feel about Sonny?” asked O’Hara. “I feel like I am over the hill with him now. I just think the fans and everyone is finished with him. The proper fans. He’s not doing it.

“The quality in the final third (has gone). He is 33, is he going to go past people? Listen, he has been a great player and an unbelievable player. A Tottenham great.

“But I just feel like when I am watching him now, have you got that sharpness and edge to your game? I don’t think he has. He has gone clean through there one-v-one. The old Sonny, that’s a guaranteed goal. You can’t take him out of the team because there isn’t anyone better than him, but we have to start looking at a new left-winger.”

Son Heung-min deserves more respect

If scoring 17 Premier League goals and supplying ten assists equals you being finished, then good luck to the rest of the Spurs squad.

The Tottenham players look up to Son and his importance to this team shouldn’t be devalued, as his performance against Brentford proved.
