Syndication: The Indianapolis StarKentucky ramping recruitment back up with Braylon Mullins

The Kentucky Wildcats are starting to hone in on their top prospects for the 2025 class as they look to find the best system to complement Mark Pope’s offensive scheme.

One of those players is 4-star guard Braylon Mullins. Arguably one of the best fits for the system Pope will run at UK, things in his recruitment have started to shift away from the Cats recently, specifically after the Jasper Johnson commitment.

Well, it appears that Coach Pope and his staff have made some inroads against that thought.

According to a report by Jack Pilgrim of KSR, coming off a visit to North Carolina this weekend, Mullins has canceled all of his remaining official visits except for one… his visit to Kentucky.

Two trips stand out amongst the cancellations: Duke (Oct 4-6) and Tennessee (Oct 18-20).

Overall, it still seems like this could be an uphill battle for the Cats as they look to fight off UConn and his home-state school, the Indiana Hoosiers.

Seems like this visit will tell just how big of a threat the Cats are in this recruitment. At least at this point, it seems like his chances of making the visit are pretty decent.

Going to be another recruitment to follow closely.

The Kentucky Wildcats got a complete roster makeover when John Calipari headed to Arkansas.

Calipari, one of the most notable names in college hoops, left to join the Razorbacks, and the Wildcats quickly replaced him with Mark Pope, who appears ready to implement a more modern style of basketball in Lexington.

Pope went on the recruiting trail and brought in numerous highly-touted transfers. He also retained already-committed Kentucky high school star Travis Perry, who will be joining the roster this coming season.

With practices already underway and the summer session in the past, Pope had a few thoughts on the roster, one of which was on Wake Forest transfer Andrew Carr.

“Andrew Carr actually had a stretch this summer where he went five days of practice straight… where he did not miss a single field goal. Not a single one. We’re like we’ve got to find more ways to get the ball in his hands,” Pope said Thursday on KSR.

Carr wasn’t the only one that got some love. Pope also stressed how well Travis Perry has been shooting the ball.

“He had three straight — I’ve never seen this at any level of basketball. Our guys were doing some shooting series during the course of the summer and he had three straight days where he made 100 of 100 free throws. Three straight,” Pope said.

ESPN commentator Jimmy Dykes added to the excitement with this tweet about Kentucky’s shooting talent.
