Leeds United man wanted on a full-time basis after summer exit

Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen is wanted on a permanent basis by Eintracht Frankfurt, as per a report by German news outlet Fussball.news.

Leeds United gave the full-back the green light to link up with the Bundesliga outfit in the last transfer window for the whole of this season.

Kristensen, 27, has since been a regular for the German club and has made five appearances in all competitions, four of which have come in the league. They are sat in 4th position in the table.

In this latest update regarding his future, Frankfurt’s boss Dino Toppmöller has said, as per Fussball.news: “Markus Krösche (sporting director) has already recognized that. He is already working on it and does not need my expertise. He also sees that Rasmus is a very important factor for us. Despite stomach problems, he fought through and played very solidly. With his energy and power, Rasmus is very important for us.”

Leeds United signed Kristensen back in 2022 whilst they were still in the Premier League.

He was snapped up by the Whites to add more competition and depth to their defensive department.

The right-back has since played 30 games for the Yorkshire outfit in all competitions and has chipped in with three goals.

Kristensen was loaned out to Roma in the last campaign and made 31 outings for the Serie A giants before he latest switch to Frankfurt.

The Denmark international, who has 22 caps to his name, started his career at FC Midtjylland and broke into their first-team as a youngster.

Ajax then landed him in 2018 and he spent a year in Holland before moving to Austria with Red Bull Salzburg.

He was a hit during his time in the Austrian Bundesliga and played 109 games, finding the net on 14 occasions.

What now?

Most signs point towards a permanent exit in the near future for Kristensen from Leeds United.

His contract at Elland Road expires in 2025 so he is likely to have played his last match for his parent club.

Daniel Farke’s side won 2-0 away at Cardiff City last time out.

Leeds United may have beaten Cardiff City 2-0, but it was a victory that has not necessarily pleased everyone.

It was not until Joel Piroe’s 87th minute strike when the three points were sealed, despite the fact Cardiff had been down to 10 men since midway through the first half.

Cardiff were absolutely dreadful, yet Leeds couldn’t finish them off. In fact, despite being 1-0 up, Leeds’ travelling faithful were actually heard booing due to their side’s slow play.

Most teams would be delighted at going away from home at this level and coming away with a 2-0 win, but Farke’s slow style of play is drawing criticism.

It wasn’t only the fans who were left frustrated on Saturday, but Farke too. Farke believes Leeds’ finishing has been an issue all season, with Cardiff a prime example.
