The LSU Lady Tigers stand pat in the AP Poll ahead of Top 5 Clash with South Carolina
The LSU Women’s Basketball team is off to an incredible start to the season jumping out to a 20-0 record and a 5-0 start to SEC Play remaining unbeaten. The team is clicking on all cylinders as Kim Mulkey’s unit is smoothing out some of the issues we saw earlier in the season. The LSU Lady Tigers entered last week as the 5th Ranked team in the Country, after knocking off Vanderbilt and Florida, the Lady Tigers are staying put as the 5th best team in the Country.
The most shocking factor in LSU’s ranking is that the Tigers received just 614 points in this weeks poll after receiving 625 points last week. The UCLA Bruins remain the top seeded team in the Country receiving 27 of 30 first place votes while South Carolina received a vote, and Notre Dame received two votes. The Lady Tigers have however closed the gap on the USC Trojans as USC’s 55 point lead has shrunken to 46 points.
The SEC is loaded this season with 7 Top 25 teams which will make the rest of Conference play entertaining to watch down the stretch.
Being ranked as the 5th seed is seemingly way too low for this team given the firepower they have as they very well may be the best team in the Country.
This week will determine how high LSU rises in the ranks or whether or not the Lady Tigers fall down the AP Poll. On Thursday, LSU will travel to Columbia to take on the 2nd Ranked South Carolina Gamecocks in one of the biggest games of the year. The game will be a Top 5 clash and a rematch of last year’s SEC Championship game and the College Gameday crew will make the trip for the game.
