Clemson remains unranked in AP Poll Top 25 for the sixth consecutive week

Clemson remains unranked in AP Poll Top 25 for the sixth consecutive week

Clemson is snubbed yet again by the AP Poll, while keeping teams like Duke at No. 2 despite struggles against Wake Forest.

Another week, another AP Poll Top 25 drops without the Tigers.

Clemson basketball has spent the last few weeks clobbering one conference opponent after another. Stanford, Cal, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech all fell by double-digits. Only Pitt and Louisville escaped the beatings, with the Panthers putting up a fight, ultimately succumbing in overtime 78-75. Louisville is the only loss in that stretch.

And for some reason, the AP voters don’t like the Tigers. They’ve been out of the rankings for six consecutive weeks after losing back-to-back games against Memphis and South Carolina despite dominating since. The only argument that makes sense is Clemson’s two quad-2 losses, but one was a rivalry game away from home. Surely, that’s not what’s keeping them out, right?

On the other hand, Duke stays at No. 2, although it had problems putting away a Wake Forest team that the Tigers beat handily. Yesterday, after the poll dropped, the Blue Devils struggled against the 9-11 NC State Wolfpack, trailing at halftime. In their two recent games, they’ve only pulled away a few minutes before the buzzer, and yet, there seems to be no punishment.

The only other ACC team that made the list is Louisville, with one more loss than Clemson. Fortunately for the Cardinals, all five losses are of the quad 1 variety.
