Wolves scouting €10m ‘jewel’ wanted for Newcastle United transfer
Wolves are said to be interested in one of the rising stars of the German second tier
That’s according to Sky Germany who claimed the Molineux outfit are joined by Southampton and Brentford as showing an interest in a ‘jewel’ who is enjoying something of a breakthrough season in the 2. Bundesliga. Newcastle and West Ham have also been linked in separate articles.
The attacking midfielder made 13 appearances, scored one goal and provided two assists last season but has already contributed five goal involvements in one fewer game so far this term.
Having come through the age groups with the Germany youth set-up Maza was last month called up by the full Algeria national team and made his debut against Togo in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Maza’s current contract runs until 2027 and while it does not have an exit clause Sky say a fee of between €10-20million could be negotiated. They also add the youngster is likely to leave if Hertha are not promoted – they currently sit in eleventh place.
It would be a surprise to see Maza come to Wolves and be expected to contribute in the Premier League from the off but the club have a good track record in bringing the likes of Toti Gomes who came from Estoril and was last season handed a new five-and-a-half-year deal.
