Everton transfer round-up: Beto exit news, talks ongoing for new striker
Everton have seen a serious upturn in form since the return of David Moyes to Goodison Park.
A 4-0 win against Leicester City on Saturday (1 February) has put the Toffees nine points clear of the relegation zone.
However, the boss knows there is plenty of football still to be played and with injuries to players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Orel Mangala, it is vital that the Blues fill these gaps in the side.
Here, Goodison News rounds up all the latest Toffees transfer talk from lunchtime on Deadline Day.
Last-minute interest in Beto
According to Mateo Gonzalez (3 February), Real Betis have considered making a move for the striker during the transfer window.
However, the Blues are said to be closed off to any potential move for the 27-year-old after Beto scored two goals at the weekend.
Although it has been a disappointing campaign for the striker on the whole, he may be one man who will see a real improvement in form under the management of Moyes.
Furthermore, as the only fit natural striker in the side, Everton simply can’t afford to let him go as they look to retain their place in the top flight this term.
Carlos Alcaraz set to be announced as Everton player
After undergoing a medical on Sunday (2 February), Carlos Alcaraz is set to be announced as an Everton player before the end of the transfer window.
The midfielder is making the move from Flamengo on an initial loan deal that will turn into a permanent deal after he makes eight appearances for the Toffees.
Once the obligation has been reached, the Blues will pay a fee of about £15million to secure his services on a permanent basis.
Striker talks ongoing at Everton
With Beto the only fit striker at Goodison Park, it comes as no surprise that Moyes is still looking to add another attacker to his ranks.
It is at the top end of the pitch that the Toffees have struggled most this term with a lack of goals from throughout the team and with Calvert-Lewin now set for a period on the sidelines through injury, reinforcement are even more vital.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the Blues are looking to complete the signing of another striker before the transfer window closes [The Daily Mail, 3 February].
After missing out on Evan Ferguson, who is making the move to West Ham, Moyes may have to work hard to unearth someone who is available for transfer and able to make the necessary impact in Merseyside.
In other Everton news, Richard Keys has hit out at Andy Gray for what he did to one Toffees player.
