Analyst Calls For Cowboys To Trade Star Defender

The 2024 season did not go as planned for the Dallas Cowboys.

Even though they had a frustrating Wild Card playoff loss in 2023, there was a belief that they would bounce back and that this team had plenty of talent to go on a deep playoff run for the first time in a few decades.

However, that didn’t end up happening, and due to many injuries to key players, along with some organizational issues, the Cowboys missed the playoffs entirely with a 7-10 record.

The team has made a few moves to hopefully help their chances in 2025, including starting over with a new coach.

A coaching change could certainly change the tides, but Chris Canty believes the team should still do more, as he mentioned in a recent appearance of “Unsportsmanlike” on ESPN.

“The Dallas Cowboys need to trade Micah Parsons. They have to at some point start taking culture seriously,” Canty said.

Canty is under the impression that Micah Parsons isn’t good for the locker room and that the Cowboys would be better off cutting ties with him to get a large sum of players and picks in return.

When healthy, Parsons has been one of the best defensive players in the league, but he missed four games in 2024 due to injuries.

Those injuries aren’t said to be lasting, but if his locker room presence is as poor as Canty makes it out to be, it might be time for the team to move on from their star linebacker.

Former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has long been considered a potential future head coach, and his name even surfaced during the team’s recent coaching search. However, Witten confirmed that team owner Jerry Jones never contacted him regarding the vacancy, which ultimately went to Brian Schottenheimer.

“I did not talk to Jerry about it,” Witten told All City DLLS on Wednesday. “I think they went through a thorough process for them and got to a place where they felt like Brian [Schottenheimer] was the guy. I never worked with Brian or any of that, but I’ll always pull for the Cowboys.”

While Witten remains focused on his current role as head coach at Liberty Christian School, where he has led the team to back-to-back Texas state championships, he didn’t hide his long-term aspirations.

“Of course, that’s a long-term goal of mine to one day get back there, when the right opportunity comes,” Witten said. “When that right time and the right opportunity comes, I’m excited to embark on that next chapter.”

Cowboys enter a new era with Brian Schottenheimer at the helm

The Cowboys are entering a new era under Brian Schottenheimer, who was promoted/hired as the head coach after Mike McCarthy’s departure following a disappointing 7-10 season. Schottenheimer, the son of legendary coach Marty Schottenheimer, brings over 25 years of NFL coaching experience to the role and has already earned the respect of quarterback Dak Prescott.
