Postecoglou sack? Spurs tipped to hire Premier League boss after shock Daniel Levy decision

The manager who Tottenham now want to appoint more than anyone else if Ange Postecoglou gets sacked

Even if Ange Postecoglou has been assured about his future as Tottenham Hotspur boss, the former Celtic boss would be worried about whether his time is slowly but surely running out at Spurs.

Tottenham are sticking with Postecoglou for the time being but their patience will naturally be tested if the North Londoners keep losing important games.

In any case, it would perhaps be wise if Daniel Levy and the other decision-makers at Tottenham have contingency plans in place if Ange Postecoglou’s job indeed becomes untenable after a stage.

Levy has been told to appoint Simone Inzaghi to replace the Australian at the end of the season by Fabio Paratici. But the bad news for Paratici is that Inter Milan are keen on extending Inzaghi’s contract.

Another manager who has been linked with the Tottenham job is AFC Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola.

Iraola has impressed Tottenham and perhaps the rest of the Premier League as his Cherries side are placed seventh in the Premier League.

Usually, such underwhelming performances would see the manager sacked, but TBR Football has learned that the North London club are understanding of the situation given their extensive list of injuries.

Daniel Levy is still backing Ange Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou retains the full support of Daniel Levy despite the team’s recent poor run of results, sources have told TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

Levy actually believes that Postecoglou has performed as well as could be expected with Tottenham’s squad being decimated by injuries.

Spurs’ current injury list features Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Wilson Odobert, Mikey Moore and Richarlison.

The Lilywhites are keen to secure Champions League football this term and whilst that looks unlikely at this stage, there is a belief at the club that almost all their issues are down to the squad not being able to cope with injuries.

But, as is often the case when things aren’t going so well at a football club, Tottenham’s hierarchy have started doing their due diligence should they feel the need to part ways with Postecoglou.

Tottenham impressed by Thomas Frank and Andoni Iraola

TBR Football can reveal that Thomas Frank and Andoni Iraola are the two managers who have impressed the North London club.

Frank has done an excellent job in the West of the capital having taken Brentford from a Championship team into a side now competing for European places.

Iraola has also made quite an impression at Bournemouth with his team sitting in seventh place and just one point behind Manchester City.

Whether Spurs could attract either of the Premier League managers away from their current clubs is uncertain, but what’s clear is that Postecoglou’s job at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is safe for now.
