Newcastle receive shock bid on deadline day after Mag leaves for medical – The Telegraph
According to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Standard Liege have launched a late bid for Isaac Hayden; who had looked set to join Sheffield Wednesday.
It was revealed last night that the midfielder was in South Yorkshire and set to undergo a medical with the Championship side. However, Belgian giants Standard Liege have now submitted an offer to Newcastle.
It’s not yet clear if it’s a permanent offer or loan bid, but it’ll give both Newcastle and Hayden a decision to make ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.
Hayden has been training away from the first-team all summer and spent last season on loan with Norwich. The 28-year-old looked set to join newly-promoted Luton earlier this week, but his proposed move to Kenilworth Road fell apart a few days ago.
Elsewhere, Lucas De Bolle could join Feyenoord on loan and Jeff Hendrick may also be moved on, with Sheffield Wednesday, West Brom, Leeds and Aberdeen all linked.
