No need to worry about comeback as Coventry City favourite prepares to join exciting mix

Coventry City comment from CoventryLive as fans eagerly await the return of hugely influential midfielder Callum O’Hare

The news that Callum O’Hare is due back in full training next week has sparked a contrasting response from fans, with some desperate to see him return as soon as possible while others have expressed caution, fearing that he’ll be rushed back too soon to put him at risk of further set-backs.

The prospect of the attacking Sky Blues midfielder being back to full fitness is obviously very exciting and long-awaited. He’s been greatly missed and we can only imagine that there could have been a different outcome at Wembley in May had he been part of City’s armoury on the day.

It’s an old footballing cliche, but he really will be like having a new signing when he is finally back up to speed in a new-look squad packed full of quality, pace and attacking verve. But there’s no need for fans to fret about his comeback, one way or the other.

He won’t be brought back before he’s ready and, similarly, his return won’t be dragged out unnecessarily. The physios and medical experts will know when he’s ready but, most of all, Callum himself will know his own body and hopefully listen to it.

He’ll have a few hurdles to get over before he’s ready, not least having the confidence for full contact football that will test both the strength of his mentality and repaired ligaments. The beauty of his measured return is the fact that City don’t need to fast-track him. It’s not like they are short of creative options at the minute with Kasey Palmer in the form of his career and the technically gifted loan star Yasin Ayari making a good first impression in a Sky Blues shirt.

There’s also the mouth-watering prospect of O’Hare playing alongside Palmer and/or Ayari at the top of City’s hugely successful midfield box on occasions, which gives Mark Robins different tactical options moving forwards.

In the meantime we can sit back and enjoy watching the new signings bedding in and gelling together, safe in the knowledge that O’Hare isn’t too far off being added to what promises to be a heady mix of talent in City’s final third.
