AFC Rival Favorites to Trade for New York Jets’ Garrett Wilson
What once was a far-fetched idea before the NFL Scouting Combine last week, has now become a full-fledged rumor. There are multiple reports which indicate the New York Jets would trade Garrett Wilson to the Denver Broncos before the NFL Draft in April. Why the Broncos would want to part ways with significant assets to acquire Wilson, when they could probably trade for Brandon Aiyuk for a much lower price is any one’s guess. Rumor has it the Broncos are looking to pair Wilson with Courtland Sutton and give quarterback Bo Nix a pair of speedsters he can operate with.
Sutton was WR1 last season, but if the Broncos pull off this heist, they would clearly have Wilson serve as their true No. 1.
Wilson has topped 1,000 receiving yards for each of his first three seasons in the league. He amassed over 100 catches last season with inconsistent quarterback play from Aaron Rogers. Wilson is also extremely durable as he has not missed a game during his career. Wilson has proven he can do more with less. The Jets who have not had decent quarterback play for many years managed to get Wilson into good situations to make receptions. He would be much better off being on the same field as Sutton and having Nix’s arm throwing to him. He has also played under several coaches and coordinators in his Jets career. He might benefit by having Sean Payton and the stability he brings as a coach. If this deal is made, the Jets would probably end up getting more back than what they are surrendering. They are so needy at every position stockpiling draft choices would not be a bad thing for Aaron Glenn & Co. to have in their pockets so they can do some shopping in the draft.
Former Minnesota Vikings star Jared Allen stepped into his Pro Football Hall of Fame press conference with the Minnesota media and proceeded to rip the New York Jets and new head coach Aaron Glenn to shreds.
During a press conference at the Minnesota Vikings’ facility on Tuesday recognizing his Hall of Fame achievement, Allen decided to pick on Glenn and the Jets?
Allen was asked to talk about how close the Vikings are to winning a Super Bowl and his answer was epic.
“But the reality is, too, only one team gets there every year. Right? I’d rather be close than, freaking, who sucks? The Jets? Oh gosh. Being the Jets would be miserable right now. I just can’t believe anybody took that job. Woah, rough one.”
