Reports: Vikings won't tag Sam Darnold but hope to re-sign him - Field Level Media - Professional sports content solutions | FLMIndianapolis Colts Projected to Make Huge Move to Replace Anthony Richardson in 2025

The Indianapolis Colts thought they had their long-term quarterback of the future when they selected Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, he has been unable to prove that he can be that kind of player.

After a relatively disappointing 2024 season, the Colts seem ready to bring in a new quarterback option. They also don’t seem concerned with the idea that Richardson could end up being replaced.

Throughout his first 15 career games, Richardson has completed just 50.6% of his passes for 2,391 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. He has also chipped in with 635 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

All of that being said, a new projection has been made that would see Indianapolis replace Richardson with a major offseason move.

Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic has revealed his prediction for the Indianapolis Colts at the quarterback position. He has them signing Sam Darnold to be their new starter.

“Ballard, somehow, is getting another shot at finding a quality starting quarterback. Darnold is the top free agent available coming off a stellar 2024: 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns and 12 interceptions,” Rosenblatt wrote.

“PFF projects Darnold to get a contract worth more than $40 million a year, so the Colts would be banking on him playing like he did before poor performances in regular-season-finale and wild-card-playoff losses.”

Signing Darnold would be a massive move for the Colts. He would give them a very real chance of being a serious contender in the AFC in 2025.

During the 2024 NFL season with the Minnesota Vikings, Darnold ended up playing in 17 games. He completed 66.2% of his passes for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

At just 27 years old and turning 28 ahead of the 2025 season, Darnold could offer the Indianapolis Colts a long-term option. He could end up being the quarterback that the franchise has needed to turn itself around.

Expect to see the Colts have interest in making a move like this. Whether it’s Darnold or another quarterback like Justin Fields, Indianapolis will be looking to upgrade the position and at the very least bring in serious competition for Richardson.

Former Alabama defensive lineman Raekwon Davis has been released by the Indianapolis Colts after only a season with the team. Davis appeared in all 17 games for the Colts in the 2024 season.

In Davis’ time in Tuscaloosa, he amassed 175 total tackles, including 20 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. His most notable season came in 2017 where he received First Team All-SEC recognition and was a major part in the Crimson Tide’s championship run. His clutch interception in the third quarter of the national championship game will forever be remembered by Alabama fans. Davis continued his success for the remainder of his collegiate career, averaging 51 tackles per year for his last two seasons in 2018 and 2019.

Davis was drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft (56th overall) to the Miami Dolphins. Davis spent three seasons in Miami, accumulating 129 total tackles and five tackles for loss. Davis was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2020. He started in 48 of the 63 games he played for Miami
