David Moyes hit by ‘Massive’ new Everton boost after developments at Goodison

David Moyes has had a great time at Everton since his return and things are set to get even better at Goodison Park.

Overseeing 10 Premier League games, the Toffees have only lost one under the management of the Scotsman, pulling themselves 17 points clear of relegation.

The boss hasn’t had the easiest circumstances either with plenty of players missing out through injury, forcing Moyes to rely on the options he has available to perform.

When Sean Dyche left his position at Everton, the Toffees were just one point above the relegation zone.

However, having only just had their takeover go through, the Blues were not able to spend big money in the winter transfer window meaning Moyes has had to use most of the same players.

Jake O’Brien has completely transformed under Moyes and become a core part of the Blues team for the second half of the campaign, as they battle several injuries.

The Blues are getting players back from the sidelines now though including Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti who both played on Saturday in a 1-1 draw against West Ham.

Michael Ball believes things are getting even better for Moyes, as he wrote in the Liverpool Echo: “Suddenly, though, he is able to name a bench filled with senior players and that is a massive boost as he attempts to keep standards high.

“To have someone on the bench like Broja or Chermiti is only going to help morale in the squad. How often have players on their last legs turned to the dugout after 70 minutes and watched the opposition refresh their side with capable top-flight players, while no salvation has been available to them?

“It is also massive in the dressing room because it means there will be competition for places. Footballers often need pressure to drive them forward and knowing there are rivals for your spot is crucial to maintaining performances.”

Everton looking ahead to next season

While it is yet to be mathematically confirmed, Everton look very certain to be safe now and don’t have to worry about the threat of relegation from the Premier League meaning they can shift their attentions.

Angus Kinnear is set to join the Merseyside outfit after the conclusion of this season, while Kevin Thelwell exits the club and the backroom staff are composed.

It will soon be time for Moyes to be looking at those on the pitch though and with plenty of players out of contract in the summer, there are several big decisions to be made.

As Ball says, having players returning from injury is a massive boost for Everton and it gives the manager the power to rotate his side which will only be a positive too.

Between now and the end of the season there are plenty of players who need to stake their claim for a spot in the Everton squad ahead of a move to Bramley-Moore Dock.

While there are plenty of tough decisions for Moyes to make, life at Goodison may get even better for him now.
