One who has represented Leicester City, Derby County, and Nottingham Forest is Billy Davies. Shortly after joining Leicester City from St. Mirren, he played just six league games in the 1990–91 season before heading back to Scotland and Dunfirmline Athletic.

A few years later, Davies made his way back to England to work as Craig Brown’s assistant at Preston North End. Prior to this, he was the Scottish Premier League manager of Motherwell.

He later succeeded Craig Brown as Preston North End’s manager, and after excelling there, he was handed the position at Derby County, where he guided them straight to the Premier League through play-offs in May 2007. He left Pride Park in November of that same year due to a tough start to the following Premier League season.

Then, incredibly, he twice took over as manager of Nottingham Forest, first from 2009 until 2011. In 2013, he returned to the club, and he left in March 2014. When Leicester City was looking for someone to succeed Gary Megson, Billy Davies was one of the possibilities, but Ian Holloway ultimately won the position.

The second round at City Ground made it extremely tough for Nottingham Forest to achieve promotion during his first period, and nobody has given Billy Davies a chance ever since. He reportedly had a job interview with Hearts in 2017, but was reportedly prepared to return in ten years.
