‘Nice to hear’ – West Brom man pleased with what supporters did during Hull City game
West Brom’s Karlan Grant has said it was ‘nice’ to hear the supporters chant his name over the weekend.
West Brom won 2-1 away at Hull City on Sunday afternoon and head into the international break in good spirits.
Grant, 27, managed to get on the scoresheet again against the Tigers.
After the match, he said, as per the official club website: “It was a tough game overall, but like I say, I’m just delighted to get the win. They caused us a few problems and we made one or two mistakes which gave them opportunities, but sometimes you need a bit of luck and luck hasn’t really gone our way a lot recently. That win is great and it feels like it’s been a long time coming because we don’t like drawing games.
“It’s huge for us going into the break. You don’t want to lose or draw going into the break because it’s two weeks with no football where you’re just thinking about the game. We can breathe a bit now, which is a positive.
“It’s nice to hear the fans singing my name. I think they are seeing what I’m bringing to the team and I think I’m a different animal this year. Long may that continue.”
The attacker has since returned to The Hawthorns and has become a key player under the guidance of Carlos Corberan.
Grant has been on the books of the Midlands outfit since joining them back in 2020 and he has made 114 appearances for them in all competitions to date, chipping in with two goals.
The ex-England youth international is under contract until June 2026.
He rose up through the academy ranks at Charlton Athletic and was loaned out to Cambridge United and Crawley Town as a youngster to get experience.
Grant went on to play 98 games for the Addicks’ first-team and found the net on 21 occasions to land a move to Huddersfield Town.
He then carried on his form with the Terriers and bagged 23 goals in 57 outings before West Brom came calling.
