Eddie Howe transfer target teases Newcastle United with perfect Alexander Isak verdict

Bournemouth centre-back and Newcastle United target Dean Huijsen has spoken about Alexander Isak with both players attracting major Premier League interest this summer

Alexander Isak has been complimented by Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen – who is wanted by Newcastle in the transfer window.

Isak is one of the most desired strikers in world football right now. His relentlessness in-front of goal, leading to the Swede scoring 19 goals in 25 Premier League appearances, has put him amongst the best forwards in Europe this season and a hot commodity.

It is no surprise then that the current best team in England, who Newcastle beat in the Carabao Cup final, have their eyes on the 25-year-old. Arne Slot may be looking at Isak to be his first big signing as manager of Liverpool.

Another player who the Reds are looking at, and will face competition from Eddie Howe, is 19-year-old Bournemouth star Huijsen. The defender is experiencing his breakthrough season with the Cherries and a series of Premier League clubs are interested in the young ace who the Magpies will have to battle if they decide to firm up their heed for Huijsen

Now, with Huijsen playing against the best players in the Premier League following his transfer move from Juventus, the Spaniard put Isak in his top three strikers that put him to the test.

Speaking to ESPN, Huijsen said: “I think he’s a very complete striker. Tall, fast and strong, he can dribble, shoot and pass. I think he’s a very complete striker.”

Eddie Howe shares thoughts on Alexander Isak's cup final performance

It’s hard to argue against Huijsen’s comments regarding the six-foot-four attacker. He has become the striker that defenders fear when they see him in the starting line-up. It isn’t just the 19-year-old who has praised Isak as Liverpool boss Slot has also laid down his regard for the forward.

Ahead of the Carabao Cup final he said: “Looking at Newcastle, we played them twice. In the last game Isak wasn’t involved, the game before he was involved. He’s such an important player for them and an unbelievable threat.

He has the speed that the attackers of PSG had yesterday as well, and they were more than I would’ve liked in front of Alisson in the last two games we played them.”

Isak has made it clear how much he loves the city of Newcastle and the club. Following their recent cup victory over Liverpool at Wembley, it will fuel the Swedish striker with hope that the team can achieve more under Howe.

Two players plus cash for Alexander Isak? – Dream on, Liverpool

Fresh off a stunning goal and assist for Sweden during the international break, Isak will return to the Premier League in fine form, and will be crucial in the Toon’s final 10 games of the campaign.

The man himself insists all of his focus is on getting us back in the Champions League and “can’t wait” to be part of Saturday’s celebrations, but the media continue to report on ongoing interest with Liverpool the latest club linked with a summer bid.

Liverpool plan Isak offer

With the future of Mo Salah still uncertain, and neither Jota nor Darwin Nunez firing on all cylinders, Liverpool have reportedly made Alexander Isak a top summer target.

According to talkSPORT, to account for the British record fee it will take to even discuss Isak’s future away from Newcastle, Arne Slot’s side may offer a couple of players our way to ‘sweeten’ the deal.

Talk of a part-exchange involving Darwin Nunez has been ‘played down’, but talkSPORT’s Alex Crook claims defensive duo Joe Gomez and Jarrell Quansah have been highlighted as two players the Reds could include in a potential summer bid.

He reports that Gomez was ‘close’ to signing at St James’ Park last summer, while Quansah appears to be on our list of centre-back targets, as The Times also revealed in an exclusive released last night.

A non-starter for Newcastle!

When it looked like Anthony Gordon could head to Liverpool last summer in order to help Newcastle avoid a PSR-related points deduction, it seemed at one stage that one of Gomez or Quansah could’ve been part of the deal.

However, given Quansah’s lack of consistent game time this season (until Slot was forced to play him out of position at right back due to injuries within the squad) and Gomez’s own spotty injury record, neither player are particularly convincing; never mind tempting enough to arrive in a deal that would see Isak depart!

Liverpool are living in dreamland if they think they can offer two defenders out of Slot’s first-team plans in an attempt to get Isak for a lower fee.

And regarding Nunez, Isak in this season alone has already surpassed the Uruguayan’s goalscoring output from the last two campaigns combined: 19 league goals versus 16. It’s a no-brainer and will take much more than a few squad men plus cash to land the best striker on the planet
