Aston Villa could be in the centre of Arsenal and Tottenham transfer battle

Aston Villa could find themselves in the centre of a transfer battle between North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham this summer, with both clubs said to be showing an interest in Douglas Luiz.

Villa saw off interest in Luiz from Arsenal last summer, rejecting bids from the Gunners for the Brazilian. Tottenham have also previously been credited with an interest in the midfielder.

Reports this week claimed that Luiz was on the list of possible replacements if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, leaves the club.

Villa have shown their intent ahead of the new season with the big-money signing of Pau Torres, and the canny free signing of Youri Tielemans.
