Bournemouth are making an improved offer for Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott, who is also admired by West Ham.

Bournemouth had a £15m plus add ons offer rejected earlier in the week.

The Robins value their man at £25m, especially after the 19-year-old made 42 appearances for the side last term, and was named Young Player of the Season across the whole of the Championship.

Bournemouth will make an improved offer for Bristol City's Alex Scott after a rejected £15m bid

There is a Premier League bidding war for the ‘Guernsey Grealish’ – so called for his Channel Island heritage, and the similarities to Manchester City’s Jack Grealish – with the Hammers and Wolves both interested in Scott’s services.

Inter Milan were also previously thought to be mulling over the prospect of an £18m bid for the midfielder, who turns 20 in August.

Scott made three appearances with England in the the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina this summer.

West Ham are seeking a probable replacement for the outgoing Declan Rice, while Bournemouth want to solidify their squad as they prepare for another season in the Premier League.

The Cherries view Scott as their ‘top target in midfield’ – and will submit a higher bid imminently.

Bristol City head coach Nigel Pearson said Scott is worth £25m to the Robins as he is a regular

Julen Lopetegui and Wolves were also thought to be involved in the race for Scott’s signature, but forced out by Bristol City’s high valuation, as were Brighton.

But Bournemouth are the first side to be making a serious attempt to sign the 19-year-old, even if their initial bid was below Bristol City’s expectations.

Scott’s contract with Bristol City runs until 2025, and the Robins have no plans to let him leave easily – even offering the 19-year-old a new contract, although he is not expected to sign it.

Despite his lack of experience in the top-flight, the Robins believe Scott to be worth a minimum of £25m to them, after being named Player of the Season for last term.

West Ham, Wolves and Inter Milan are all reportedly keen on the England under-20 star

Head coach Nigel Pearson told Bristol World:  ‘It’s got to be more than £25million, he shouldn’t go for less than that. Since he made his debut for us he’s played 80 odd games, so he’s been a regular.’

Bristol City’s Championship season begins at home to Preston North End on August 5 – although Scott’s involvement is doubtful amid the rampant transfer interest. Bournemouth’s Premier League campaign begins a week later against West Ham.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s Siriki Dembele has joined Birmingham City to fill the void left by Tahith Chong’s £4.5m move to Luton Town.
