BREAKING NEWS; Club make first contact with Tottenham for potential surprise deal – Ideal bargaining chip for Spurs
Juventus are ‘interested’ in Tottenham defender Cristian Romero and have made the first moves to bring him back to the club.
That’s according to TNT Sports and journalist Maximiliano Grillo, who say that Juventus have made contact regarding a possible deal.
TNT report that Juve are looking into a potential deal for the World Cup winner, who was on their books earlier in his career but failed to make a senior appearance for them before moving to Atalanta and then Tottenham.
They are now ‘keen to bring back’ the defender they let go a few years ago after he shone for both sides and established himself in the Argentina side, which won the World Cup in Qatar.
According to Grillo, the Italian side ‘could make a bid’ for him in the coming weeks, although a deal ‘will not be easy’ given Romero cost Tottenham €50m plus €5m in bonuses and is a key player at the club.
So far Juventus have only ‘asked for conditions’ of a possible transfer at this point but their interest could tie neatly into Tottenham’s reported interest in defender Gleison Bremer.
Recent reports have indicated that Spurs are keen on the Juventus defender as they look to overhaul Ange Postecoglou’s squad this summer.
Indeed, a report earlier this week indicated that they were in the front row of his suitors, although it’s since been claimed that Juventus’ asking price was proving to be a deterrent.
With them now seemingly interested in signing Romero, perhaps the Argentine can be used as something of a bargaining chip in any potential deal.
That’s just us floating the idea but with Tottenham interested in Bremer and Juventus now keen on Romero, there’s at least a negotiation to be had between the two clubs
