Cardiff City could be made to wait in their chase of new striker as Leeds United opener looms
Leeds United host Cardiff City on the opening day of the season
Cardiff City’s bid to bring Wales international Kieffer Moore back to the club in time to face Leeds United is in doubt. The Bluebirds are hoping to bolster their attacking options this summer, with the Bournemouth striker top of their wishlist.
Cherries boss Andoni Iraola has already expressed his frustration at the transfer window given players could leave the club after the season has started. The Premier League side are said to be looking to offload Jamal Lowe and Moore this summer, but would only sanction a departure when a replacement has been signed.
Striker Antoine Semenyo is still injured, leaving them short of options ahead of the Premier League curtain-raiser. Leeds are set to take on Cardiff at Elland Road on Sunday, August 6th and their opponents face a race against time to bring Moore back to the club.
Daniel Farke’s side also know there’s plenty of work to be done before then given a mass exodus at the club. Ethan Ampadu is the only outfield signing this summer, with Newcastle’s Karl Darlow set for a medical ahead of a move to the Whites.

Moore has played in every pre-season game for the Cherries, which raises doubts over a move to South Wales, potentially handing Leeds a boost ahead of the opening day of the season. The 30-year-old spent two years at the Championship club between 2020 and 2022 with his form in front of goal leading to him earning a move to Bournemouth.
Farke’s men will take on Nottingham Forest and Hearts in their final two games of pre-season, with the club working hard behind the scenes to bring in new players.
