Man United closing in on transfer for Aston Villa linked midfielder
Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive includes fresh update on Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat
Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Aston Villa-linked Sofyan Amrabat.
The 26-year-old has been linked with Villa, United and Tottenham. The trio are understood to have enquired about the player’s availability recently.
n addition, Atletico Madrid were also reportedly exploring a deal but that interest has since cooled. Fiorentina are looking for as much as €30million to part ways with the Morocco international.
It appears that United, who were initially reluctant to meet those demands, have since raised their offer to match the asking price. That’s according to Sport Italia (via Daily Express) who claim that Erik ten Hag is “one step away” from landing the 26-year-old, suggesting that Fiorentina will accept the proposed offer.
Amrabat had emerged as an possible option for Villa as Unai Emery looks to bolster his squad. Villa aren’t short of options in the middle of the pitch, however.
Despite Morgan Sanson and Marvelous Nakamba’s departures, Villa have recruited Youri Tielemans to compete with Douglas Luiz, Boubacar Kamara and captain John McGinn, as well as injured Jacob Ramsey and Leander Dendoncker.
illa have shown their intent ahead of the new season with the big-money signing of Pau Torres, and the canny free signing of Youri Tielemans.
There’s also the small matter of a European campaign as Villa prepare to battle with other teams from abroad.
The aim is simple, to finish the highest they have done for some time in the Premier League, and to compete for trophies.
There are exciting visions on and off the field at Villa and this season is the perfect time to realise some of the club’s ambitions.
