Since being relegated from the Premier League, the Whites have bolstered their defensive fortifications with goalkeeper Karl Darlow from Newcastle, right-back Sam Byram from Norwich, and defensive midfielder Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea.

No Premier League side shipped more than their 78 conceded goals last campaign.
