Final Injury Report: Jets Won’t Have Tippmann, Two Giants Also Ruled Out BY RALPH VENTRE SPORTS ILLUSTRATED NEW YORK JETS NEWS, ANALYSIS AND MORE

The New York Jets’ two starting cornerbacks will be available to face the New York Giants on October 29, but right guard Joe Tippmann will not. While Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed have cleared concussion protocol in time for the Week 8 battle at MetLife Stadium, Tippmann has been ruled out for Sunday’s game. The rookie interior offensive lineman suffered a quad injury midway through the Week 6 win over Philadelphia and did not return

With the Jets coming off a bye, Tippmann, the No. 43 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, did not practice this week. “Tippmann, he’s still dealing with his quad. He’s gonna be out,” said Saleh prior to Friday’s practice in Florham Park.

Tippmann’s absence likely means versatile veteran Wes Schweitzer will start at right guard although tackle Billy Turner also has the ability to kick inside. Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll ruled out two offensive players on Friday running back Gary Brightwell and starting quarterback Daniel Jones. The former will miss a third straight game, making way for veteran Tyrod Taylor to earn the start. “Gary Brightwell and Daniel will be out this game,” said Daboll.

Nursing a neck injury, Jones has practiced on a limited basis but has not yet been cleared for contact. The Giants are a bit banged up on the offensive line. Tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring) is listed as doubtful while rookie center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) and tackle Evan Neal (ankle) are officially questionable. The Jets have one player listed as doubtful — WR Irvin Charles (shoulder).
