Tottenham table bid to sign Hakan Calhanoglu
North London giants Tottenham have reportedly submitted a bid worth €35 million to sign Hakan Calhanoglu, a target for Manchester United
According to a report by Italian outlet Inter Live, Hakan Calhanoglu is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. And the North London giants have offered €35 million to Inter Milan for him. The 29-year-old creative midfielder is also a target for Manchester United this summer
Hakan Calhanoglu has been one of the most underrated midfielders in the world since moving to Italy half a dozen years ago. The Turkish international joined AC Milan in July 2017 before spending four fruitful years with the Rossoneri. But he shocked the AC Milan fans when he picked Inter Milan as his next destination in July 2021.
While Calhanoglu’s decision was controversial, he has lived up to the billing at San Siro. And the 29-year-old has chipped in with 12 goals and 21 assists in nearly 100 appearances for Inter Milan. But the player’s future with the Nerazzurri is uncertain amid financial issues plaguing them. And Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are his prospective suitors.
Calhanoglu’s name has featured on Manchester United’s wishlist for a long time. But it is unclear how the 29-year-old might fit into the scheme of things at Old Trafford, considering the Red Devils are on the verge of signing Mason Mount. However, with the Turk remodelling his game as a box-to-box midfielder, he might be the ideal foil for Casemiro.
With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg facing an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the 29-year-old Inter Milan creative midfielder is an attractive option to replace the Danish international. But it will be interesting to see if the Serie A giants accept the bid worth €35 million. If not, Manchester United might have an opportunity to beat Tottenham to Calhanoglu’s signature.
