Wolves now showing interest in Serie A forward but face Leicester competition

Wolves fans are hoping a few new faces will be coming on over the next week or so before the transfer window closes next Friday.

Wolves are in the market for new players, and it is shaping up to be a fairly frantic finish to the window, as it was last summer.

Wolves have already brought in three new players and made Tommy Doyle’s loan move permanent.

But fans feel more are required, if Wolves’ ambitions of securing European football this season are to be realised.

Pedro Neto was recently sold and it is thought Wolves are on the lookout for another wide forward – and it is being claimed by one outlet in Italy that the club have sights on a player from Serie A.

Wolves have made ‘surveys’ on Fiorentina winger Jonathan Ikone

The loss of Neto could really sting for Wolves.

The Portuguese attacker was capable of changing games on his own, and his pace and dribbling were major weapons.

Fans have been enthused by new signing Rodrigo Gomes, who could well turn out to be Neto’s replacement. But there is a feeling that Wolves need another player to operate out wide.

According to Viola News, Wolves have made ‘surveys’ on Fiorentina winger Jonathan Ikone.

Ikone has fallen out of favour at the club along with Josip Brekalo, with both players potentially on their way out in the coming days.

Ikone has been with Fiorentina since January 2022 when he signed from Lille, and has scored 12 goals and made 13 assists in 116 games.

Wolves are not the only Premier League club keen though. Newly promoted Leicester City are also said to be showing interest.

Ikone could be a decent signing

Time is running out in the transfer market for Wolves and hopefully there will be at least one new signing through the door by the end of the week, heading into the final stretch of the window.

Ikone could make for a decent pickup depending on the asking price.

The 26-year-old, who earns around £35,000 per week at Fiorentina, does not have incredible goals and assist numbers at his current club.

But he’s someone who could just provide a bit of depth for Wolves, and he is actually a former league title winner, having played 37 games for Lille in the 2020/21 season. He also has four caps for France which isn’t too bad considering their incredible depth.
