Phil Parkinson offers injury update on Wrexham wing back Luke Bolton

Wrexham are now preparing for the visit of Crawley Town this weekend and Phil Parkinson will be without one wing back for the game.

The dust is settling on Monday’s defeat at Birmingham City.

Wrexham travelled to St. Andrew’s on Monday night and lost 3-1 with the unbeaten run in League One ultimately coming to an end.

That was always going to be a difficult game and Wrexham must now attempt to hit back quickly.

Crawley Town visit the STōK Cae Ras this weekend and Wrexham are desperate to get back on track with a home victory.

Wrexham have been superb at home in recent times and will be looking for a big result just five months since beating Crawley 4-1 at home in League Two.

Wrexham wing back to miss Crawley Town clash

Phil Parkinson will be assessing his squad this week with a few bumps and bruises expected after that Birmingham clash.

One man we won’t be seeing in action this weekend is wing back Luke Bolton.

Parkinson has told The Leader that Bolton has picked up a foot injury and will now miss ‘a couple of weeks’.

Bolton wasn’t involved at Birmingham and it now turns out that he has been ruled out through injury.

“Luke has got a problem with his foot which is going to keep him out for a couple of weeks,” said Parkinson.

Bolton has only made one first-team appearance this season, starting in the 4-2 EFL Cup defeat at Sheffield United.

The 24-year-old is struggling for action at the moment but will now have to wait a couple of weeks before mounting a push for Parkinson’s starting XI again

Luke Bolton faces uncertain future

Bolton only joined Wrexham in January, arriving from Salford City on transfer deadline day.

Parkinson praised Bolton as a ‘dynamic’ player and he split time at right wing back with Ryan Barnett.

Bolton is well behind Barnett now though and we have even seen left-footed Sebastian Revan feature at right wing back ahead of Bolton.

There have also been reports suggesting that Bolton was close to leaving Wrexham over the summer but the deal collapsed.

That suggests that Wrexham are already keen to part ways with Bolton and would be open to offers come January.

Bolton’s injury doesn’t help his cause right now and some may wonder whether he is primed for a departure when the transfer window opens again.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have now set their sights on a second UK sports team after their success taking control of Wrexham and leading the club back to the Football League

Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are now trying to add their Hollywood appeal to another sports team.

The actors are in talks over buying shares in Hundred cricket team Welsh Fire, who are based in Cardiff.
