Sources: Chelsea reject Armando Broja offer from major Premier League rival as clubs £10m apart in valuation

Sean Dyche is planning another bid to sign £35m striker who will only join as one Everton star leaves. However…

Everton seem to have tied the bulk of their transfer business up now, with just a few added acquisitions potentially to be made before the summer’s end.

However, that does not mean that things can’t still occur that might force the club into action, with some of the Toffees’ star men still linked with departures.

Were Sean Dyche to sanction an outstanding exit, he and Kevin Thelwell would be back scrambling for alternatives to ease their vacancy.

Fortunately, in one particular area, they seem more than ready to pull the trigger should Dominic Calvert-Lewin leave Everton.

With Jake O’Brien set to sign for Everton, and other targets now in the works too, this is a mesmeric and completely unprecedented window thus far.

And, according to this latest report from CaughtOffside, there is still more yet to come, with a new striker next up on Dyche’s list.

It claims: ‘CaughtOffside sources also understand that Everton are considering a new approach for Chelsea striker, Armando Broja.’

This is, despite Broja only planning to join Everton if Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaves Everton, wanting to be assured first-team opportunities.

His £35m price tag would surely have confirmed that anyway.

Would Armando Broja improve Everton?

Although he remains a promising young striker with vast experience across both club and international football, there does seem like a huge risk comes attached to Broja for Everton.

Firstly, his huge price tag always adds pressure, and realistically the Albanian has done little to warrant that kind of adulation.

Secondly, there are justifiable fears that the 22-year-old might not even provide the much-needed proficiency to answer the Toffees’ prayers, given he has never scored more than ten in a single season, and his best Premier League return saw him notch just six for Southampton.

His height and natural physicality would make him a good match for Dyche, whilst his pace would benefit the team were Calvert-Lewin to depart, but there is no denying that few in world football could do what the Englishman does for Everton with such ease.

He is a workhorse, forced to chase, jump and battle for every ball.

Broja might struggle in this regard, and thus it would make more sense just to push for a new contract for the 27-year-old than opting for an expensive alternative.

Everton’s pre-season has not got off to the most blistering of starts, having first rescued a draw against Sligo Rovers before just yesterday losing to Salford City.

Sean Dyche attests that this is all part of the process, and that gaining fitness is the main goal, but the confidence that a strong pre-season can bring for the new Premier League season is certainly quantifiable.
