This summer saw Leicester City lose key players, most notably the loss of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who departed to rejoin with former Foxes boss Enzo Maresca at London giants Chelsea.

As a result, the priority for the Foxes has been strengthening the middle of the park, which they successfully did by securing the future of Wilfred Ndidi, who signed a new contract to keep him at the club.

Strikers have also been prioritised as a result of the departure of Kelechi Iheanacho, who left the King Power following the expiry of his contract.

Jamie Vardy committed his future to the club earlier this year, however further additions were needed for Steve Cooper’s side.

Attacker Bobby De Cordova-Reid joined following his exit from Fulham, however Leicester City are set to swoop in for another Premier League experienced striker.

According to Nixon, Leicester City want ‘extra firepower’ in their attack, and may be available as Crystal Palace ‘revamp their squad under Oliver Glasner’.

The striker, who also reportedly has interest from Saudi Arabia, was highlighted by former Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson as the ‘most reliable’ player during his spell at the club, per BBC.

The Ghanian international has a wealth of Premier League experience with 274 appearances across several seasons at the top level.

Will Jordan Ayew solve Leicester City’s need for attacking ‘firepower’

There is absolutely no questioning the experience of Ayew at this level, with his 274 Premier League appearances, as well as 159 games in Ligue 1 in France.

Ayew also certainly has the firepower to pop up in moments and score crucial goals, something that could be imperative for the Foxes in their likely bid for survival this term.

However, other than a 37-year-old Vardy, Cooper’s side looks light of guaranteed goal scoring ability at Premier League, and this is something that the signing of Ayew wouldn’t be able to guarantee.

Ayew returned just four goals last season in 35 appearances, although did provide in a creative sense, with a tally of seven assists.

Leicester City’s budget may not stretch to get a young Premier League goalscorer with consistent evidence of proven ability at this level, however due to Vardy’s age, an additional striker needs to be brought in to take the goalscoring brunt off the Englishman, something that Ayew wouldn’t be able to guarantee.

Leicester City have been avidly searching for a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall replacement ahead of the new season.

Steve Cooper still looks to be prioritising a midfield signing in order to plug the hole left by English midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, after he looked to join up with former Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca at Chelsea.

Numerous players were targeted by Cooper such as the likes of former Coventry City midfielder Callum O’Hare, who was available on a free following the expiry of his contract at the Championship club, however he has since joined Sheffield United.

It was thought that Argentinian Matias Soule could have been utilised in Dewsbury-Hall’s role of providing an attacking threat in midfield, as well as being a threat on the wing, however any chances of a deal coming to fruition with the Juventus attacker are unlikely.

Cooper also identified a Champions League midfielder who has the stats to prove that he can make a significant impact at Premier League level, however a Serie A side have moved ahead of them in the race for his signature.
