INTERVIEW | Phil Parkinson after Barnet - YouTube

BOSS Phil Parkinson was pleased Wrexham made the most of the space afforded by Vancouver Whitecaps during Saturday’s 4-1 win.

Wrexham completed an unbeaten North American tour with a 4-1 win in front of a crowd of almost 35,000 at BC Place.

Parkinson said: “Obviously, we had an idea how Vancouver would play in their shape and where the spaces would be and we exploited it at times in the first half.

“But, we just were able to get a few clips on the screen for the lads at the break and say ‘look, this is where the space is, this is where they’re vulnerable and this is what we’ve got to do to hurt that’ and I felt we did that really well with the switches of play.

Sebastian Revan on Wrexham win

This was a strong team performance; it may have only been pre-season, but this was a convincing display.

A number of individuals impressed too and left wing back Sebastian Revan arguably stole the show.

The new signing from Aston Villa started against the Whitecaps and showed exactly why Wrexham have snapped him up.

Revan was a constant threat up the left flank, constantly finding space and driving right at the Whitecaps back line.

The former Rotherham United ace also opened the scoring, lashing home from close range after Vancouver failed to clear a cross into the box.

The attacking thrust Revan provided is ideal for Wrexham’s 3-5-2 approach under Parkinson and he has taken to social media after the win.

“Great way to end the tour,” said Revan. “A great team performance and a goal. Thank you for your support,” he ad

Wrexham teammates Elliot Lee and Will Boyle both responded with emojis, showing support for their new teammate after an impressive display.

Fellow Wrexham signing Lewis Brunt – who knows Revan from Aston Villa – also responded with two fire emojis.

Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Chem Campbell branded Revan a ‘top player’ whilst Aston Villa talents Tommi O’Reilly and Lino Sousa both showed their support too.

Revan looks to be exactly what Wrexham needed at left wing back and if he can replicate the kind of display he showed against Vancouver, Wrexham have a real star.

Revan will have competition at left wing back from veteran McClean and Gambia international Jacob Mendy, but he is really proving why he should start the League One opener against Wycombe Wanderers
