  1. Ben Chilwell: Chelsea defender will miss World Cup with hamstring injury | Football News | Sky Sports

Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the picture to sign Fiorentina’s top midfield elite this summer.

That’s according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who claims Wolves and Leicester have made contact with the winger.

Fiorentina are looking to get rid of a few players before the window closes on Friday. The 26-year-old is the ‘hottest name’ in this list.

The France international was left out of the squad to face Venezia on Sunday. Di Marzio says this is because of ‘market reasons’ as his future lies away from the Serie A side.

He’s attracting interest from the Premier League, where Wolves and Leicester are interested parties.

The journalist adds the attacker ‘is in contact’ with Gary O’Neil’s side and the Foxes, with Wolves ‘slightly ahead’ of Leicester. It’s not made clear whether the two clubs are looking to buy or sign him on a loan deal.

Ikoné’s deal lasts until 2026 and there’s no mention of the Italian club’s request to part ways with him.

He scored six goals and registered eight assists from 51 games in all competitions last season and has an assist from two games so far this season.

Aston Villa have held talks with Chelsea over a move for Sterling, who has been told that he can leave Stamford Bridge (via The Times, 22 August).

And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – claims the move would be beneficial for both Villa and Sterling.

“Things have certainly materialised at Chelsea around him,” King said.

“This would be a very interesting signing for Aston Villa. A player of his experience, that could only be a good thing for the club.

It looks as if Sterling does not have a future at Stamford Bridge. If he doesn’t secure a move away from the club, he risks spending the next few months on the sidelines in West London.

As a result, the winger will be desperate to secure a transfer, and Villa Park certainly wouldn’t be a bad destination for the former Manchester City star.

Unai Emery’s side are playing in the Champions League this season. Meanwhile, Chelsea are looking to qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Therefore, some might even argue this would be an upgrade for Sterling.

The finances involved could make a deal complicated, but if an agreement can be struck, it could be a big move for Villa.
