Latest Stoke City transfer news as the Potters reportedly make a move for Galatasaray defender Emin Bayram
Stoke City have reportedly “started official contacts” to sign Galatasaray defender Emin Bayram.
The 20-year-old has played less than 20 league games for the Turkish club, but has already captained the team and has a league winner’s medal to his name. He spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Boluspo or in the second division and has climbed the pecking order back at his parent club.
But his future may lie elsewhere, with Stoke now said to be interested in the young prospect. He has yet to be linked to any clubs in Europe, so the Potters may be ahead of the curve as they look set to prepare a move for the Turkey under-21 international
According to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Stoke have “started official contacts” to sign the young defender in the summer transfer window. The reporter has over 880,000 Twitter followers and works for the well-renowned Sports Digitale in Turkey
Speaking after Galatasaray won the league, the young defender hinted that he sees his immediate future in Turkey. He told his club’s website: “Galatasaray is a club accustomed to championships. I am very happy to experience this in this club.
“We have worked for this all season. Today, we have received the reward of our efforts. We are very happy. We want to win the next game and continue the championships in Europe and the league next year.”
